Recipe by Helen Sylliboy – Eskasoni, Unama’ki
Ingredients:
- 1½ lbs halibut fillets
- 1 egg white, beaten stiff
- Seasoned bread crumbs (for dipping)
- ¼ cup green onions, chopped
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sliced almonds (optional)
- ½ cup sour cream*
- Dash of paprika
Instructions:
Prepare the Halibut:
- Dip the halibut fillets into seasoned bread crumbs.
- Place the breaded fillets in a shallow baking dish and set aside.
Make the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise with lemon juice.
- Add the sour cream and blend well.
- Gently fold in the beaten egg white.
Assemble and Bake:
- Sprinkle the fillets with chopped green onions.
- Spoon the mayonnaise mixture over the fish.
- Sprinkle with sliced almonds (optional) and paprika.
- Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily.
